Charge to Roadmap Group (DRAFT)
- Propose a roadmap for noise challenges in scaled technology.
Intended Use
- Target to illustrate quantitatively, the impact of scaling challenges that should be addressed.
we will want to leverage this in defining challenge problems
- Provide researchers ballpark guidance on scope of problems
- (public, ground benchmark---not represent anyone's proprietary technology)
Scope
- composite random upset rates from various sources
- (ionizing particles, shot noise, thermal...)
- composite aging effects (NBTI, Hot Carrier, ...)
- early lifetime failure (small devices, limits of burnin)
- variation (we assume ITRS answer is adequate, but include here for completeness)
- defects
- ??? (other significant issues should be on the radar?)
Possible sources
- Review first principles
- Extrapolate from published data in radiation community
Composition
- We are guessing this team will need to be mostly academics and government/national lab types. Perhaps some IC consumers? Would an independent vendor like iRoC participate?
