Charge to Roadmap Group (DRAFT)

  • Propose a roadmap for noise challenges in scaled technology.

Intended Use

  • Target to illustrate quantitatively, the impact of scaling challenges that should be addressed.
  • Provide researchers ballpark guidance on scope of problems
    • (public, ground benchmark---not represent anyone's proprietary technology)

Scope

  • composite random upset rates from various sources
    • (ionizing particles, shot noise, thermal...)
  • composite aging effects (NBTI, Hot Carrier, ...)
  • early lifetime failure (small devices, limits of burnin)
  • variation (we assume ITRS answer is adequate, but include here for completeness)
  • defects
  • ??? (other significant issues should be on the radar?)

Possible sources

  • Review first principles
  • Extrapolate from published data in radiation community

Composition

  • We are guessing this team will need to be mostly academics and government/national lab types. Perhaps some IC consumers? Would an independent vendor like iRoC participate?
